You plain- ole can not fake joy. You may plan what a day may be like, what you will wear, what you may eat, but the joy, it is either there or it isn’t. All weddings are joyous in my book, but I tell you, some of our girls come with it bursting at the seams. Kim is one of them. She is so in love in Jon. So in love. The kind of love that makes you discover that trials breed an environment of hopeful fairytales revealed. Kim is like no other bride I have met. Her story makes you shut your mouth and changes the way you categorize a champion. I could talk this whole time about what great details she had on her day because she did, or the in-winter beauty of one our favorite venues, which it was. But in a sad light would it fair to a woman in love with a techno-man from Apple who came in and rewired the way a story ends. Or begins… rather, happily ever after. To Kim and Jon.

When I hear beach shoot in the dead of January I cringe a little. That is UNTIL, we crept up on this one on our calender. On the beach, with the Gate dazzling in the background it was a warm 70 degrees. Hotter still? The love of these two. We enjoyed our time with Capture Bride and Groom Michelle and Steven hanging out in the surf. Tons of summer day fun, in the middle of winter. Weird….. yet awesome.

Over the weekend we joined Alex and Kevin as they tied the knot at the Crocker Art Museum; one of my all time favorite venues. Here is just a tiny sneak peek from the weekend. LOVE.

When I first met Kaci and Nick during our consultation they told me they were in a Kickball league. Ok, so… All of my couples are fascinating, I love getting to know each of them…wait, a kick ball league? In fact they were shortly headed in to Kickball Championships…I nearly spit my coffee. Its these type of people I love so much, I dang near wanted to offer my wedding fee’s for free just to spend more time with them. This is why Mr. Kennedy is the President of Capture Photography, keeping me from making wacko decisions based on heart and the need to get to know more about this kick ball league. Luckily, Kaci and Nick booked Capture for their wedding without my extreme couponing and we headed shortly after to spend the day in Santa Cruz with the completely rad duo. Nick went to college there and the other thing I learned in the consult was it was his strong desire to shoot their love there as well. Well, thank you Nick. I have had so many highlights to date with this career. It’s a bonus usually that I also get paid to do this gem of a job. But when we rounded the last beach that Nick had on his wish list just as the sun was going down, a new highlight was written. We walked up to this hole in the rock and started to shoot around when the most magical things started to happen and for like 6 minutes the sun broke through the hole and bedazzlement occurred. We shot fast, in fear of this glorious phenomenon vanishing, which it soon did. But not before we we had so much fun in the surf. But I get the impression that these two could have fun in a paper bag. Makes me hope for June of 12 to come to me quicker than most. Here’s to getting sand in your pants; Kaci and Nick.

I remember back to Stephenie and Bobs engagement shoot. He was home just for a week or so on leave. He is a pilot in the Air Force and I remember feeling very honored that on one of their few coveted evenings home together they chose to spend it in an engagement shoot with me. These two are what small town stories were created for. A love that, even knowing them for a minute, is undeniable. So no better way than to spend the 4th of July weekend than to photograph their unbelievable wedding day. It made you love this country, Wine and Roses, and small town loves even more. I don’t think it gets better.

I can’t even begin to start to get over these two. I am always flattered when people will drive a long ways just to have a photo shoot with me. Especially when they will drive from an artful mecca like San Fransisco. I will always find that cool. So when you are already as cool as these two and I am feeling flattered it has the propensity of being a DY-NO-MITE photoshoot. OK so this photoshoot REALLY had little to even do with me at all, I mean come on, when you look like this?? Its a whole new kind of great. I feel like all I did was show up. I can not wait to be a part of this couples completely awesome wedding day. I am gonna have to wait just over a year, so, till then, I shall feast my eyes on this; congrats to Amanda and Mike.

Check out a few picks from Paul and Ashley’s awesome photo shoot. These two are classic and it was awesome hanging with them on this hot summer night. I love the colors in the shoot and they let me try some stuff that I have been wanting to do (shooting in this downtown rainbow art structure and I love the way that it turned out.) They were down for whatever (my favorite kind of couple) and I had a blast. To Paul and Ashley :)
